In 2014 I took part in a program called Laughing Like Crazy. It was a 3-month program that taught the basics of the art of stand-up – how to craft the perfect joke, with a set-up and the punch.

We learned how to use humour to deal with mental health issues, which seemed to diminish in the light of the group. At the end we performed in front of over 200 people at the YMCA. After the show, a woman came up to me and said I was really funny and she would pay to watch me in a comedy club! My friend Gosia would say, “Mita you’re funnier than all the other comedians I’ve seen” and she even had a dream of me on stage doing a solo show. For 10 years after that, I didn’t do anything with comedy. Then in 2023, I decided to pull out my old jokes (which I didn’t even need to re-write, as I was still single and crazy, although a little less broke ;-). Since then I’ve been working on comedy by going to open mics, taking courses, and performing at shows in Toronto and Ottawa. I even did an open mic in the UK! Check out some of my clips on YouTube!
